Israel conducts an experiment on Palestinians in Gaza without their consent

The New York Times reported that Israel has launched an experimental facial recognition system in the Gaza Strip since December 2023 to mass monitor Palestinians without their knowledge or consent.

The newspaper, citing sources, indicates that the facial recognition system in the Gaza Strip began operating in December 2023. It is an experimental technology used to conduct mass surveillance, collecting and indexing the faces of Palestinians without their knowledge or consent.

The New York Times confirms that the system was initially used to search for hostages who were kidnapped on October 7, 2023, but after the start of the Israeli army’s ground operation in the Gaza Strip, Israel began using it more often to identify individuals associated with Hamas and other Palestinian factions.

It is noteworthy that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attributed his decision not to send an Israeli delegation to the United States after the UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as a message to Hamas of the futility of any pressure on Israel to end the military operation in the Strip, and the measures taken by the Security Council. It won't have much effect.

Netanyahu had previously accused the West of losing conscience.
