India : After four years, protest against CAA is again announced in Assam

More than 30 organizations, including the All Assam Students Union, announced that the movement will begin on March 4 with motorcycle rallies in each district headquarters and a torch-bearing procession will also be taken out.

With the general elections coming up, the Bharatiya Janata Party has started taking all its controversial agenda on the public stage. CAA is also a very controversial law of the BJP government against which many organizations have been raising their voices. Now in view of the Lok Sabha elections, BJP has announced the implementation of CAA, after which there has been an uproar.

According to the report, more than 30 organizations including All Assam Students Union (AASU) have announced to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Assam. AASU President Utpal Sharma said that during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Assam, there will be a protest including a 12-hour hunger strike in all districts on March 9. Utpal Sharma said that many cases are going on in the Supreme Court against CAA.

According to the report, speaking to the media after a meeting with representatives of 30 local organizations, AASU President Utpal Sharma said that there are many cases pending in the Supreme Court against the CAA and its implementation in such cases. Proclamation is a great injustice to the people.

"The people of Assam have never accepted the CAA and if it is implemented, they will oppose every step taken in that direction," he said. With the legal fight we will continue the democratic and peaceful movement against the Centre's decision.

Utpal Sharma said that the anti-CAA movement will begin on March 4 with motorcycle rallies in each district headquarters and a torch-carrying procession will also be taken out. He said that we will take out a torch-carrying procession in every district headquarters and protest against it across the state. When the Prime Minister comes to Assam on March 8, AASU and 30 other organizations will light lamps in front of the pictures of five youths who were killed in police firing during anti-CAA protests in 2019, Sharma said.

It should be noted that the Prime Minister will be on a two-day visit to Assam from March 8. It should be noted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already announced the implementation of CAA in his speeches. On the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), he said that this law was passed in 2019. Shah said, “CAA is the law of the land, it will be implemented. CAA is to be implemented before elections so no one should have any confusion about it.
