“Houthi” announces the targeting of an American ship and destroyers in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and “Centcom” shoots down 15 drones

Yemen - Washington: The Yemeni Houthi group announced , on Saturday, that it had targeted a US warship and destroyers in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, using naval missiles and 37 drones.

A statement issued by the military spokesman for the group’s forces, Yahya Saree, said, “The (Houthi) naval forces and the Air Force carried out two qualitative military operations. The first targeted the American ship ‘PROPEL FORTUNE’ in the Gulf of Aden with a number of appropriate naval missiles.”

He added that the second operation “targeted a number of American war destroyers in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, with 37 drones,” pointing out that “the two operations successfully achieved their goals,” without immediate comment from Washington regarding this statement.

This is the largest attack launched by the Yemeni group since the start of its operations in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden against Israeli, American, and British ships, according to Anadolu’s correspondent.

For its part, US Central Command ( CENTCOM ) said that US Navy ships and aircraft shot down 15 drones launched by the Yemeni Houthis in the Red Sea region early Saturday.

Central Command wrote in a post on the

She added that the drones posed “an imminent threat to US commercial, naval, and coalition ships in the region.”

The US Army also announced that it carried out a self-defense strike on Friday against two anti-ship missiles mounted on two trucks in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.

The US Central Command said, “At approximately 3:55 pm (Sanaa time), the Houthis fired two anti-ship ballistic missiles from Yemen into the Gulf of Aden on the ship M/V Propel Fortune, which flies the Singapore flag and is owned and operated by a company from Singapore.”

She added that no injuries or damage were reported.

In solidarity with Gaza, which is facing a devastating Israeli war with American support, the Houthis are targeting Israeli or related cargo ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones, stressing their determination to continue their operations until the end of the war on the Strip.

Since the beginning of this year, the Washington-led “Guardian of Prosperity” coalition has launched raids that it says target “Houthi sites” in various regions of Yemen, in response to its attacks in the Red Sea, which was met with a response from the group from time to time.

With the intervention of Washington and London and the tensions taking a noticeable escalation last January, Al-Houthi announced that it now considered all American and British ships among its military targets.
