Hamas warns Israel and calls for the movement to Al-Aqsa on the first Friday of Ramadan

The Hamas movement warned that Israel would begin to install iron models on the doors of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and called on the Palestinians to break the siege of Al-Aqsa Mosque and defend it against Israeli “aggression” on the first Friday of the month of Ramadan.

Hamas said on Thursday that Israel's attempt to install iron models on doors at Al-Aqsa Mosque is a "malicious" attempt to prevent worshipers from accessing it.

The movement explained in a statement that “the occupation has begun installing iron barriers at the doors of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, a malicious attempt to prevent worshipers from reaching the mosque during Ramadan, and to deprive them of performing prayers, especially Tarawih prayers.”

Hamas warned "the occupation against continuing its measures against Al-Aqsa Mosque," stressing that "our stationed people will remain vigilant and will not remain silent in the face of the occupation's efforts to undermine the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque."

The movement asked the people of Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the interior to “mobilize and confront the occupation’s plans against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and confront the Zionist aggression that aims to empty it of its buildings during the greatest month for Muslims.”

Earlier Thursday, Hamas called on the Palestinians to break the siege of Al-Aqsa Mosque and defend it against Israeli “aggression” on the first Friday of Ramadan.

The movement said in a statement: “We mobilize the masses of our people in occupied Jerusalem, the West Bank and the interior to participate urgently in defending Al-Aqsa Mosque against the Zionist aggression that lurks in these times.”

She added: "We call on the Palestinians to participate actively in breaking the occupation's siege of Al-Aqsa, and to reach prayer and bond at its sides, and to revive its nights."

Earlier Thursday, the Israeli occupation police placed fortifications for its personnel outside the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and replaced the iron barriers with square iron figures inside which its members were present.

In a statement, the police denied what it described as “rumors about obstacles being placed in the way of worshipers entering the mosque.”

She added, "This is false news and has no truth on the ground. In practice, there is no closure of the doors leading to the Holy Mosque."

Police officers have been standing outside the mosque's doors for many years, but usually behind iron barriers.

On Monday, the Israeli army said in a statement: “On Fridays throughout the month of Ramadan, worshipers from the areas of Judea and Samaria (the biblical name for the West Bank) will be allowed to enter Jerusalem subject to the possession of a valid magnetic (security) permit, and an assessment of the security conditions.”

He added that only male worshipers over the age of 55, and women over the age of 50, as well as children under the age of ten, will be allowed to enter.

Residents of the occupied West Bank have not yet been allowed to cross the checkpoints and enter Jerusalem to perform the evening and Tarawih prayers.

Since the outbreak of the war on Gaza on October 7, Israeli security forces have closed all checkpoints around occupied East Jerusalem to West Bank residents.

During its ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army escalated raids and arrest operations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, causing confrontations with Palestinians, resulting in the martyrdom of 425 Palestinians and the injury of about 4,700, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
