Foods to maintain kidney health

Dr. Dmitry Doronchuk, a urologist, said that some foods reduce the risk of stone formation and maintain kidney health.

According to him, it is important above all to drink enough water a day. Because water cleans the urinary tract and reduces the concentration of toxins that exit the body with urine. Apples, watermelon and pineapple also help achieve this process, indicating that the human body needs 30 ml of fluid for every kilogram of its weight.

The doctor points out that vitamin A and vitamin B6 reduce the concentration of oxalates in the blood, which reduces the risk of stones forming in the urinary tract. Complex carbohydrates such as buckwheat and durum wheat pasta help improve urine excretion.

In cases of cystitis, you can drink herbal tea that has diuretic properties, such as bearberry, cornstarch, grape seed extract, and lingonberry leaves.

He says: “Cucumber, zucchini, tomatoes, lettuce, pumpkin, carrots, beets, apples, pears, watermelon of both red and yellow types, and vegetables have a diuretic effect and are beneficial for kidney function.”

The doctor notes that it is important to limit the consumption of salt, sugary drinks, and fatty, fried, and smoked foods. These foods, uncontrolled medication intake, smoking, excessive drinking of alcohol, and a sedentary lifestyle can damage the kidneys.
