Child falls into 50 feet deep borewell pipe of Delhi Jal Board, NDRF starts rescue operation

A rapid operation is being carried out to bring out the child safely. For this, the NDRF team has also started digging a pit parallel to the borewell so that the child can be taken out as soon as possible.

New Delhi:A child fell into the water treatment plant of Delhi Jal Board in Keshopur Mandi area of ​​Delhi on Sunday morning. It is being told that the depth of this pipe is 40 to 50 feet. Rescue operation has been started to take the child out of the pipe. For this, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team and fire fighters are present on the spot.
At the time of filing this report, teams from Delhi Fire Service (DFS), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and Delhi Police were leading the rescue operation. 

According to rescue workers, after receiving information about the incident, five fire engines have been sent to the spot. The NDRF rescue team on the spot is being led by Inspector-in-charge Veer Pratap Singh. 

Speaking to news agency ANI, Singh said, "We will soon conduct a rescue operation by digging a borewell parallel to the spot where the child fell. However, it could be a long-running operation.

On the matter, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a post on X, writing, "The incident of a person falling into a borewell in Keshopur area has come to light, where rescue work is going on by NDRF and Delhi Jal Board. Water Minister Atishi took the opportunity. Took stock. It was found that the borewell was inside a room locked with a key. Delhi Police is investigating the entire incident.

He said, "DJB has also been ordered to investigate. Strictest action will be taken against the responsible officer. And all abandoned government and private borewells will be sealed on war footing within 48 hours." 

Atishi has also made a post on the matter. In his post, he wrote, "To ensure that such cases do not come up again, I have given strict orders to the Jal Board that all private and government borewells lying closed in Delhi should be sealed by welding within 48 hours and a report should be submitted to me."
