Borrell: We must condemn what is happening in Gaza just as we do with Ukraine

New York: The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said during a session in the UN Security Council on Tuesday that the famine in Gaza “is being used as a weapon of war,” stressing that “what is happening in Gaza must be condemned with the same words as we condemn what is happening in Ukraine.” “.

Borrell said, “What is happening in Gaza is only the culmination of a dangerous and unusual conflict that has been raging between Israelis and Palestinians for nearly a century.”

“This is a humanitarian crisis, not a natural disaster, not a flood or an earthquake,” he added. “It is a man-made crisis.”

Regarding the introduction of aid into the Gaza Strip, Borrell said: “When we look for alternative ways to provide support by sea or air, we must remember that we were forced to do so because the natural means of providing support via (land) routes has become artificially closed.”

As the Israeli war on Gaza enters its sixth month, the suffering of the residents of the Strip, especially the northern and central regions, is exacerbated as a result of a strict siege that has made food so scarce that they are on the verge of real famine.

In an attempt to remedy the crisis, Arab and foreign countries continue their cooperation to airdrop aid into the northern areas of the Gaza Strip, but it remains insufficient and does not meet the urgent needs of the Palestinians.

Doctors also advise drinking sufficient amounts of water during breakfast to avoid dehydration during the fasting period, and staying away from stimulant drinks as they speed up the process of excreting fluids from the body, as well as staying away from soft drinks that cause bloating and contain large amounts of sugar.
