US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Tuesday that the United States of America has an opportunity to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

During a joint press conference with his Qatari counterpart, Blinken stressed the necessity of reaching an immediate ceasefire, in order to increase humanitarian access to Gaza, stressing that the current situation in the Gaza Strip is unacceptable.

He said: “The United States considers Qatar an essential partner, and we are grateful for this partnership.

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said that the United States is an ally of Qatar and our relationship includes many areas, noting that the current situation is unprecedented and chaos is spreading everywhere in Gaza, the Red Sea and Syria, adding: “We would like all the hostages to be liberated in Gaza Strip and delivering aid to civilians.

The war in Gaza continues for its 151st day , leaving more than 30,000 dead, while negotiations continue in Egypt between Hamas and Israel to reach a ceasefire agreement before the month of Ramadan.
