Biden wins the Democratic Party nomination to run in the US presidential elections

President Joe Biden won enough delegate votes on Tuesday to secure the Democratic nomination, with a showdown with former President Donald Trump looming.

US President Joe Biden won a sufficient number of delegate votes, on Tuesday evening, to secure the Democratic Party nomination for him, as a confrontation with former President Donald Trump approaches in the US presidential elections.

Biden needed the votes of 1,968 delegates to win the nomination, and Edison Research said that he exceeded this number on Tuesday evening, as the results of the primary elections in Georgia began to emerge, before the expected results from Mississippi, Washington state, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Democrats living abroad.

Trump is expected to win the Republican nomination later Tuesday night, as four states hold elections, including Georgia, where Trump faces criminal charges due to his efforts to overturn the state's results in the 2020 ballot.
