Anthropic launches a third version of the chatbot Claude as the artificial intelligence race continues

Anthropic, a startup backed by Google and Amazon , unveiled on Monday the third series of artificial intelligence models known as “Cloud,” in the latest round of an almost non-stop competition in Silicon Valley to produce more efficient technology, according to Reuters.

The startup company says that "Opus Cloud 3" - the most advanced version in the series - outperforms the two competing models, GPT Chat 4.0, developed by OpenAI, and Gemini 1.0, invented by Google, in many standard tests.

The company's CEO, Dario Amodei, said: "These are Rolls-Royce models of artificial intelligence (referring to the luxury and best-performing car model), at least for now." New or expected advanced models from Anthropic competitions have been previewed, but according to Reuters, we have not been able to verify this matter.

Following countless competing announcements, as well as the release of Cloud Series 2.0 last July, these developments show how companies are competing to improve the performance of AI tools while customers are still exploring ways to use the technology.

Anthropic President Daniela Amodei said customers would choose the new series despite the higher price “if they need to perform more cognitively complex tasks,” such as accurately handling complex financial analysis.

The company explained that the third-series version of Opus will cost $15 for every million units of data, and the cost of less capable models will decrease at least five times in exchange for dealing with the same amount of data.

On the other hand, OpenAI charges $10 per million data units handled by its GPT4 Turbo model. Anthropic also said that Cloud 3 is its first “multi-modal” AI series. This means, like some other competing models, that the model can respond to text and image queries, for example analyzing an image or a table.

This model of "generative" artificial intelligence, which the "GPT Chat" application was credited with spreading, can; Create new content on demand.

The company's CEO, Dario Amodei, said that "Cloud 3" will scan images but will not produce them, because "we have seen much less demand from institutions for them."

Last month, Google temporarily stopped the image-generating feature of its Gemini chatbot after it made mistakes in diversity requirements, such as inaccurately portraying Nazi soldiers in the 1940s as being of different racial backgrounds instead of being white.

Anthropic said that the “Cloud 3” series will be available through Amazon and Google cloud platforms, adding that it will also provide direct access to it in 159 countries.
