An Egyptian engineer named Ashraqat Khaled led a Saudi-Egyptian team to win first places in the international robot programming competition Roborave.
She said in statements to RT that she trained the winning students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that she was surprised by the students’ tremendous academic level in this field despite their first participation in this competition.
She pointed out that programming is an interrelated branch of science and engineering that includes the design and applications of using robots, and it is used in many manufacturing processes today. Teaching the basics of robotics to children and teenagers can lead to their interest in technology to become future leaders in this field.
Students from Al-Rowad Private Schools in Saudi Arabia won first places in the global robot programming competition, Roborave, with the participation of 86 competitors. The team was composed of three Saudi students and an Egyptian student: Faris Abdullah Al-Qahtani, 14 years old, Saudi, Muhammad Fahd Al-Shahrani, 17 years old, Saudi, and Omar Al-Shazly, Egyptian.
The competition was held “online”, which is about programming a robot that follows a path on its own without human intervention, similar to a self-driving car, and the other competition is extinguishing a fire using a robot.
The 14-year-old student, Faris Al-Qahtani, passed the entire robot track faster than the other 86 competitors from all over the world, and won first place.
While the student Muhammad Fahd Al-Shahrani won first place in the same competition and implemented the robot to extinguish the fire itself in a faster time than the other contestants.
