After 14 months in prison the “bankrupt” Alves is released

The Supreme Court of Catalonia announced, on Monday, the temporary release of Barcelona legend Dani Alves from prison.
Last week, the court ruled for the conditional release of Dani Alves, in the rape case in which he was accused, on bail of one million euros.

The Spanish newspaper "Marca" said that after 14 months in prison, Dani Alves was released after he managed, today, Monday, to collect the million euros required for bail.

She pointed out that Alves tried to get out of prison by paying bail last week, but the family of Neymar da Silva, the Saudi Al Hilal star, refused to help him.

Alves struggled to pay the required bail “because he is bankrupt,” although his wealth is estimated at about 55 million euros. However, he suffers from having his assets frozen according to a Brazilian court ruling, after a lawsuit filed against him by his ex-wife, Dinora Santana.

Alves, 40, was accused of raping a woman in a nightclub, and was sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison last February, before a conditional release decision was issued, while he continues the appeal procedures (on the prison sentence).
