A headbutt knocks down a coach!

The Lecce club announced the dismissal of its coach, Roberto D'Aversa, due to his assault on a player of the Hellas Verona team (0-1) after the match that brought them together yesterday evening, Sunday, in the 28th round of the Italian Football League.

A quarrel broke out after the final whistle blew, between the winning team's player, Thomas Henry, and the Lecce club's player, Marin Pongracic.

During the altercation, Lecce coach Roberto D'Aversa headbutted the player Thomas Henry, while the referees looked on, which led to the duo receiving a red card as a result of these incidents.

The Lecce club coach denied that he intentionally hit player Thomas Henry with his head, as he wrote on his account on social media platforms: “I made a mistake and I want to apologize. I got carried away and lost focus, but not to the point of hitting another person, and this does not concern me and I do not accept it,” according to the “Lecce Club” website. Euro Sport.

He continued, saying: “Once again, I apologize to Henry, to the fans of Lecce, Hellas Verona, the Italian fans, and to the referees.”

Despite his apology, the Lecce club decided to dismiss its coach, Roberto D'Avirza, in an official statement, which said: "After the events that occurred after the end of the match between Lecce and Hellas Verona, the club announces the dismissal of Roberto D'Avirza from his duties. Thank you to the coach and his staff for the work they have done."

It is noteworthy that Lecce fell to fifteenth place in the Italian Serie A standings, with 25 points.

On the other hand, Hellas Verona rose to thirteenth place with 26 points.
