On Monday, the Emir of Qatar met with the head of the Hamas political bureau. The two parties discussed the latest developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Strip.

The Qatari Emiri Diwan announced, in a statement on Monday, a meeting between the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, at Lusail Palace in the capital, Doha, to discuss developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories.

The statement stated that during the interview, the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories were reviewed, and Qatar's efforts aimed at reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire agreement in the Strip were discussed.

Prince Tamim affirmed, according to what was stated in the statement, “Qatar’s permanent support for the Palestinian people and their just cause and the importance of Palestinian unity in order to obtain their legitimate national rights, foremost of which is their right to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

Qatar plays a major role in mediating between Hamas and Israel to exchange prisoners and establish an ongoing ceasefire since October 7.

On Sunday, the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said that an Israeli delegation would arrive in Qatar on Monday, to discuss with the mediators the details of a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas in exchange for a temporary truce for the devastating war.

According to the newspaper, the Israeli delegation is composed of representatives of the Mossad intelligence service and the army, and will arrive in Qatar on Monday, although Hamas has not yet given a response to the new broad outlines of the deal that was agreed upon at the Paris summit.

It also reported that "the negotiations are scheduled to address all issues related to the deal, including the list of names of detainees in Gaza who will be released, and the identity of the Palestinian prisoners expected to be released."

The newspaper stated that the negotiations will also discuss “the ceasefire process, including the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from Palestinian cities in the Gaza Strip, stopping the collection of intelligence information from Israel during the truce period, and a limited return of citizens from the south of the Gaza Strip to its north.”

Talks were held on Friday, in the French capital, Paris, with the participation of an Israeli delegation headed by Mossad chief David Barnea, CIA chief William Burns, Qatari prime minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, and Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel, in an attempt to reach a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas. .

The devastating war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 has left tens of thousands of victims, most of them children and women, according to Palestinian and UN data.

Its deadline has expired. Hamas calls on “International Justice” to stop the Israeli war of starvation in Gaza

The Hamas movement demanded a clear position from the International Court of Justice to stop the Israeli war of starvation in the Gaza Strip, after the expiry of the one-month deadline set for the Israeli occupation to take measures that would stop any actions that lead to genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The Hamas movement called on the International Court of Justice and the international community to stop the war of starvation that Israel is waging against the residents of the Gaza Strip.

The movement said in a statement today, Monday, on the occasion of one month since the decisions of the International Court of Justice in which it ordered Israel to take measures to stop any actions leading to genocide in the Gaza Strip, that the episodes of famine experienced by the Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip continue as a result of “the Zionist siege and in full view of the world".

Israel was accused of defying the international community and all the laws it established with the aim of protecting civilians, and ensuring that their needs for food, water and medicine are met during conflicts and wars.

She stressed that the international impotence and the American cover for the crime of starvation that the occupation uses as a weapon to achieve political goals is a disgrace to humanity that history will not erase.

Hamas also stressed that "the American administration's concealment behind misleading statements about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip will not absolve it of its responsibility and participation in war crimes committed against defenseless civilians."

She said that a month after the decisions of the International Court of Justice in which it ordered measures to stop any actions leading to genocide in the Gaza Strip, “today the world stands as witness to the escalation of the occupation’s crimes, violations, and its war to starve our people in the northern Gaza Strip.”

Hamas stressed that this "requires a clear position from the court and the international community to stop this fascist aggression and hold the criminal Nazi occupation leaders accountable."

On January 26, the International Court of Justice - the highest judicial body in the United Nations - ordered Tel Aviv to take measures to prevent acts of genocide against Palestinians and improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which has been besieged by Israel for 17 years.

The court - headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands - also ordered Israel to submit a report within a month of the issuance of the initial decision in the case regarding the extent of its application of temporary measures.

According to the United Nations, reports indicate increasing catastrophic levels of acute food insecurity throughout the Gaza Strip, as the number of reports of families struggling to feed their children increases, and the risk of deaths resulting from hunger increases in the north of the Strip.

The OCHA office explained that more than half of the aid shipments to northern Gaza were prevented from arriving last month, and that there is increasing interference from the Israeli army in how and where aid is delivered.

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has left tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide.” Collective.”
