On the 125th day the number of Gaza martyrs approaches 28,000, and international organizations warn of famine.

Will doctors succeed in protecting astronauts and the elderly from muscular dystrophy?

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the number of martyrs had risen to 27,840 and those injured to 67,317 since October 7, while UNRWA said that the Strip needed more food supplies to avoid famine, while Doctors Without Borders confirmed that the Palestinians were struggling for clean water.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the death toll from the Israeli war on the Strip had risen to “27,840 martyrs, in addition to 67,317 injured since last October 7.”

She explained that "the Israeli occupation committed 15 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, claiming 130 martyrs and 170 injuries during the past 24 hours."

The Ministry indicated that "there are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the roads, and the occupation prevents ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them."

The Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) announced the death of dozens of citizens, and the injury of others, as a result of the continued intense occupation bombardment of Gaza City.

"Wafa" explained that the occupation warplanes bombed homes in various neighborhoods of Gaza City, specifically in the neighborhoods of Al-Rimal, Al-Sabra, and Al-Zaytoun, which resulted in dozens of martyrs being killed, and others being wounded with various injuries.

"To avoid starvation"

In a related context, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stressed, on Thursday, the urgent need to provide more food supplies to avoid famine in the Gaza Strip.

UNRWA spokeswoman Juliette Touma confirmed in a television interview that, “There is a need for more food supplies to avoid famine in Gaza, and these supplies are available to UNRWA.”

She revealed that "the UN agency may stop its operations within the next few weeks if international funding remains suspended."

She explained: "Without UNRWA, there would be no supplies, and no aid convoys."

"Despicable conditions"

For its part, the international organization "Doctors Without Borders", on Thursday, described the living conditions in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip as "miserable" and said that the Palestinians are struggling to find clean water.

The international organization stated, in a post on its account on the X platform, that “the main challenge facing our teams while distributing water in Rafah is the lack of fuel necessary to pump and transport it.”

She highlighted that "water pipes, distribution points, streets and infrastructure in the city of Rafah are destroyed as a result of the (Israeli) bombing."

This comes as the Israeli war on Gaza enters its fifth month, and most of its victims are children and women, according to the Palestinian authorities, and it has also caused “massive destruction and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe,” according to the United Nations.

“A real victory.” Al-Houthi: The movement of Israeli ships in the Red Sea was completely stopped

The Houthi group announced the complete cessation of Israeli ship traffic in the Red Sea, and described the matter as a "true achievement and victory," noting that Israel had resorted to relying on chartered ships to carry its goods.

The leader of the Yemeni "Ansar Allah" group, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, confirmed on Thursday that the movement of Israeli ships had completely stopped in the Red Sea, due to the operations launched by his group in solidarity with the Gaza Strip.

Al-Houthi revealed, in a televised speech, that “the movement of Israeli ships has completely stopped from Bab al-Mandab and across the Red Sea,” describing this matter as “a real achievement and victory.”

He added, "The Israeli enemy resorted to relying on chartered ships to carry its goods, and by targeting them, the situation became difficult for it."

He pointed out that the cost of Israel's economic losses is "exorbitant as a result of our operations, and this is known and clear."

Al-Houthi stated that his group targeted the city of Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) this week, overlooking the Red Sea in southern Israel, "which led to the disruption of the port there."

In solidarity with Gaza, which is facing a devastating Israeli war with American support, the Houthis targeted, with missiles and drones, Israeli cargo ships or those linked to them in the Red Sea, determined to continue their operations until the end of the war on the Strip.

With the intervention of Washington and London and the tensions taking a noticeable escalation trend last January, the Houthi group announced that it now considered all American and British ships among its military targets.

Since the beginning of this year, the Washington-led coalition has been launching raids that it says target “Houthi sites” in various regions of Yemen, in response to its attacks in the Red Sea, which was met with a response from the group from time to time.
