Chad: exchanges of fire leave “several dead” in N’Djamena

The Chadian capital was shaken this Wednesday by exchanges of fire near the headquarters of an opposition party.

Members of this political party are themselves suspected by the authorities of having attacked intelligence service offices earlier in the day.

In a press release made public this Wednesday, the Minister of Communication, Abderaman Koulamallah affirms that these exchanges of fire follow the arrest of the secretary in charge of finances of the Socialist Party Without Borders, the PSF, accused of having fomented an attempt to assassination of the President of the Supreme Court.

During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, an attack targeted the offices of the powerful Chadian intelligence services, causing “several deaths” in the capital, announced the Chadian government, which accuses “elements” of the PSF led by the opponent Yaya Dillo, the latter denied his involvement and denounced a “lie”.

The government spokesperson indicates that the situation is under control, assuring that "the perpetrators of these acts will be prosecuted in accordance with the law."
