An expert does not rule out the emergence of self-awareness for artificial intelligence

Ruslan Yunusov, co-founder of the Russian Quantum Center, announced that he does not rule out the emergence of artificial intelligence self-awareness in the next decade.

According to him, self-awareness of artificial intelligence may appear in the next decade, and on classical computers equipped with silicon processors.

He said in an interview with the Russian TASS news agency: “A powerful artificial intelligence, capable of realizing itself, can be built on a quantum computer, because a quantum computer is somewhat similar to the connectionist model of the human brain. But self-awareness in artificial intelligence can also appear on a computer.” Classic equipped with silicon processors, in the event that the power of the computing system is doubled and the efficiency of the mathematical algorithms used is significantly increased. That is, the possibility that artificial intelligence will become conscious in the next decade is no longer excluded. It could actually happen.”

The expert indicates that the issue of developing quantum computers will be discussed at the Future Technologies Forum, which will be held in Moscow on February 13 and 14.

It was announced earlier that it was decided to connect the first Russian quantum computer to the cloud quantum computing platform within a year and a half so that everyone can use it.
