Dr. Rima Moiseenko, a Russian nutrition expert, announced that microwave waves can negatively affect some foods when heated and make them harmful to health.
In an interview with Sputnik Radio, the expert points out that heating foods in microwave ovens is actually convenient. But in some cases it can lead to negative consequences. Because microwaves change the structure of fats.
She says: “Heating foods that contain fats in the microwave poses health risks, because it affects the molecules and can change the chemical composition of the fats. For example, milk cannot be heated in the microwave; this also applies to infant formula,” noting that the animal fats found in the milk "It will undergo a chemical change."
According to her, fast food contains trans fats, and when heated in microwaves, they can become toxic.
“It is particularly dangerous to heat fast food foods in the microwave,” she says. “Because natural fats turn into trans fats when heated, and thus turn into toxins. But carbohydrates, such as lean bread or cereals, can be heated in the microwave.”
According to her, it is also not recommended to heat foods using gas or electric ovens more than once. Because when the heating process is repeated, the molecules of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates split, meaning we get food that has partially or completely lost its nutritional value. That is, the body does not get any benefit from eating it.
