By order of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Algerian authorities opened an in-depth investigation into the incident of a young man sneaking in for the purpose of illegal immigration via an Air Algerie plane from Oran Airport.

Investigations initiated by the General Directorate of Internal Security revealed that direct responsibility falls on 7 employees of the General Directorate of National Security, at the border police, in addition to the governor, head of the second division of the border police at Oran Airport, and the dean of police in charge of airport security.

Investigations also revealed the direct responsibility of a mechanical technician at Air Algerie, extending administrative responsibilities to the technical director of Air Algerie, the director of Oran Airport, and the regional director of the National Airport Management Corporation in Oran.

At  the end of last year , the French authorities found a young man alive in the landing gear compartment of a commercial plane that took off from Algeria to Paris, suffering from severe hypothermia.

The man, believed to be in his twenties, was found during a technical inspection after the Air Algerie flight coming from Oran, Algeria, landed at Orly Airport in Paris.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa received in Pretoria the Commander of the Sudanese Rapid Reaction Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and discussed with him the issue of searching for peace in Sudan.

The South African President's administration said in a statement on Thursday that the South African President welcomed Lieutenant General Dagalo's message and praised the central role of the African Union and the Governmental Development Organization headed by Djibouti in mediating between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Reaction Forces.

The statement added, "The need for the participation of the Sudanese people and civil society in finding lasting solutions to security and political issues was also emphasized."

Ramaphosa supported the upcoming dialogue between Dagalo and the head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council, Army Commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and stressed the necessity of an immediate ceasefire and the launch of consultations aimed at a final cessation of hostilities in the country.
