Niger is preparing for the Inclusive National Dialogue, desired by the ruling junta.

The head of the transitional government announced the start of “national dialogue” “very soon”. It was during an intervention on Nigerien public television. He also hoped that regional debates would be as “consensual and inclusive as possible”.

The National Dialogue should also define “the fundamental principles” and the “priority axes” for the transition.

On December 10, the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States paved the way for relief from its heavy sanctions imposed on Niger following the coup.

It is conditional on a “short transition” before a return of civilians to power.
