Cooper comments on Syria's draw with Uzbekistan and justifies the decision to exclude Omar Al-Somah

Syria's Argentine national team coach Hector Cuper praised the performance of his players in the Uzbekistan match, in which the "Qasioun Eagles" snatched a draw point at the start of their campaign in the Asian Nations Cup held in Qatar.

The Syrian team imposed a goalless draw on its Uzbek counterpart in a match that brought together the two teams yesterday, Saturday, for the first round of the second group competitions, which also includes Australia and India.

Australia leads the group with three points after its victory over India (2-0), followed by Syria and Uzbekistan, each with a point, and finally India with no score.

Cuper said in a press conference after the Syria-Uzbekistan match: “I am proud of what they (Syria players) presented and their implementation of defensive and offensive duties.”

He added: "After the draw against a difficult competitor, we will look for the best to win points against India and Australia."

He continued: "India is a developed team, and we will develop the appropriate tactic to defeat them and raise our chances."

He added: "I watched Australia's first match against India, and we will analyze it to know the strengths and weaknesses."

Regarding the controversial decision to exclude veteran striker Omar Al-Somah from Syria’s roster for the Asian Cup, Cooper stated: “I decided that based on tactical matters, and I chose the most appropriate one, which is a technical decision. Al-Somah may be present in the future.”

Diego Maradona's son says his father was murdered

Diego Armando Maradona Jr., son of Argentine 1986 World Cup champion Diego Maradona, said that his father was killed.

It is noteworthy that the famous sports star, Maradona, died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60.

Earlier, the Argentine Public Prosecutor's Office said that eight medical workers responsible for Maradona's health showed negligence and left him to his "inevitable fate" without providing him with the necessary medical assistance.

Speaking to the Mediaset Italia TV channel, Maradona Jr. added: “An open investigation is currently underway. We, his children, have great confidence in Argentine justice. I am convinced that things should not have ended this way. They killed my father. It is not me who says who "He did so. Although I have thoughts about this matter, I cannot express them. They left my father to his fate when something could have been done."

In April 2021, a medical expert committee created to investigate Maradona's death prepared a report to send to the judiciary. The report found that the actions of the medical team responsible for the athlete were insufficient and cautious and were characterized by negligence.

According to the committee, Maradona did not receive the necessary care and treatment, which may have been the cause of his death. In addition, doctors did not determine the exact time of death of the former footballer - while trying to resuscitate him, he had been dead for several hours.
