Tech : Apple will produce a quarter of all iPhones in India

The American company Apple plans to produce more than 50 million iPhones in India annually during the next two or three years.
This was reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing its sources.

The newspaper said: “Apple and its subsidiaries plan to produce more than 50 million iPhones in India annually over the next two or three years, with plans to produce tens of millions of additional devices later.”

The sources said that if the plans go ahead, India will represent a quarter of global production of iPhones, and this share will increase by the end of the current decade. The Foxconn factory, which is being built in the southern state of Karnataka, is expected to begin work next April and produce 20 million mobile phones annually, most of them iPhones, over the next two or three years.

The sources said that Apple chose India as its location for the production phase of iPhones with relatively competitive prices, which will be sold in 2025.

In addition, according to Bloomberg, the Indian Tata Group plans to build one of the largest iPhone assembly plants in the country, in southern India.

It is noteworthy that Apple has strengthened its operations in India over the past few years and has become the largest exporter of mobile phones from this country. While the Taiwanese company Foxconn Technology Group, which is the largest electronics manufacturer and assembler of iPhone devices, began producing the iPhone 15 in a factory in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. There are two variants of the phone being produced in India, namely the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
