Sirajuddin Haqqani's alleged Pakistani passport, inquiry underway: Interior Minister

According to caretaker Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, the relevant details will be shared only after the inquiry into the matter is completed.

Pakistan's Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said on Friday that the matter is being investigated and until the inquiry is done and no one is convicted, on the news about Sirajuddin Haqqani 's alleged use of a Pakistani passport by the Interior Minister of the Taliban government in Afghanistan. Only after doing the relevant details will be shared.

During a press conference in Islamabad today, Sarfaraz Bugti added to a question of Independent Urdu regarding Sirajuddin Haqqani that 'Accountability has its own method, this is not a forum for accountability.

'When accountability and inquiry are done and we reach the point of convicting someone. This is not the right time to share information, details will be shared after all investigations are done.'

In this regard, Independent Urdu also tried to find out the position of Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, but did not receive her reply till the publication of this news. 

On Thursday, during the weekly press briefing of the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra, when asked about Sirajuddin Haqqani's other visits including joining the Doha talks using his Pakistani passport, said, "I have just seen this report, I have Not facts to answer your question.

'Perhaps I will be able to speak at another time when I have more information.'

Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Murtaza Solangi said in a press conference on Friday that Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has given a statement on this matter.

On the question of who issued the passport? The Information Minister replied that action will be taken against anyone found involved in the matter.

'Foreigners will be deported for doing politics'

In the press conference today, the interior minister further said that Pakistanis have the right to politics in Pakistan and any foreigner who comes on any document will be deported for political activity.

The interior minister said that around 10 foreigners were identified as involved in political activities and were being deported.

According to Sarfraz Bugti, 90 percent of the foreigners living in Pakistan (about four lakh) have returned on their own. "Not a single case of harassment of women or children has come to light during the return of foreigners."

He said: 'Pakistan has to become a hard state one day, how long will we remain a soft state?'

'Political leadership is at risk'

Sarfraz Bugti further said in the press conference that there is a general threat to the political leadership, the political leaders come in the middle of the citizens in the processions and cannot even stop them from doing so.

"Many political leaders in Pakistan have been targeted by terrorism in the past, threats have been received regarding Maulana Fazlur Rahman."

He further said that 'the domain of the Ministry of Home Affairs is the paramilitary force. The paramilitary force of the Ministry of Interior will provide security in the election, as far as the army is concerned, the Ministry of Defense will take a decision.

'NADRA has to become a national security agency in true sense'

The caretaker home minister said that to control the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), there was a need for a person with IT experience.

"NADRA has become a national security institution, so the lieutenant general has been appointed there, it has to become a national security institution in the true sense of the word." 

In Pakistan, whoever wants to make a passport, when the heart wants to make an identity card. For this reason even legal practitioners do not believe in our system. The characters involved in identity theft cases will be brought to light.'
