Hamas issued a statement on Tuesday calling on the international community and the United Nations to take a firm stance against Israel’s lack of respect for UN structures and figures.
The movement’s statement said: “The fascist occupation government’s cancellation of the appointment of the United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Ms. Lynn Hastings, due to her refusal to adopt the false occupation narrative against the Hamas movement, is a continuation of the approach of arrogance and the superior outlook of the Zionists who are trying to impose their misleading and false narrative, to cover up the situation.” The war of genocide and ethnic cleansing they are committing against our Palestinian people.
The statement added: “We call on the international community and the United Nations in particular to take a firm stance against the Zionist policy of blackmail and its lack of respect for international structures and figures, which has been repeated many times by Zionist officials, who see themselves as above the law and above accountability.”
This comes after Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen announced the cancellation of Hastings’ residency visa, noting that “anyone who does not condemn Hamas for the brutal massacre, for the kidnapping of the elderly and children, for the horrific acts of violations and rape, and who condemns Israel, a democratic state that protects its citizens, will not enter.” (Israel).
Hastings resides in Jerusalem, but the Israeli authorities previously informed the United Nations that they would not renew the visa of her Canadian envoy.
