Expert: Putin and Middle East leaders' discussions limit American influence

Chinese analyst and politician Zhao Lun stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin's discussions with leaders of Middle Eastern countries contribute to limiting American influence in the region.
Zhao said in an interview with "Kankan News": "Russia's direct contacts with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Iran will not only enhance Moscow's reputation and position as a reliable and active participant in the geopolitical agenda of the Middle East, but will also allow it to weaken American influence and change the balances." The strategy in the region, In other words, Putin killed two birds with one stone.”

Zhao drew attention to the political repercussions of the Russian President's tour to the Middle East, noting that President Putin's successful visits to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which traditionally maintain close relations with Washington, highlight the weakness of Western restrictions and sanctions imposed on Russia.

Zhao also noted the economic impact of the president's diplomatic tour, stressing that the similarity in Moscow and Riyadh's views on the issue of cutting oil production in order to induce higher prices will allow Russia to "increase revenues and economic stability."

The analyst concluded: “While American aid to Ukraine dries up, Russia achieves a diplomatic breakthrough.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and held talks in Abu Dhabi with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, and in Riyadh with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as part of a tour in which they discussed bilateral cooperation and international files.
