Several people died as a result of bad weather in the states of Queensland and Victoria, eastern Australia, on Wednesday.

Earlier, the United Nations said that its Secretary-General, António Guterres, “announced the appointment of Ms. Sigrid Kaag from the Netherlands, as Senior Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza ,” to be in charge of establishing an international mechanism “to expedite humanitarian relief shipments to Gaza through countries that are not parties to the conflict.” ".

This comes after the UN Security Council adopted the resolution on expanding humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and monitoring it, with the approval of 13 members of the Council. The coordinator will be responsible for facilitating, coordinating and monitoring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as well as verifying the humanitarian nature of all humanitarian aid shipments that are delivered. Through countries other than parties to the conflict.

The UN Security Council requests the coordinator to “urgently establish a UN mechanism to accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza through countries not party to the conflict,” and to submit a report on his work within 20 days, and then submit a report every 90 days.
