The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) imposed a financial penalty on the Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, following its victory over the Saudi Al-Ittihad Club 3-1 last Friday in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup.
FIFA imposed a financial penalty on Al-Ahly club amounting to 20,000 Swiss francs (23,000 US dollars), due to its French player, Anthony Modeste, being directly expelled in the Al-Ittihad match following his violent intervention on defender Ahmed Hegazy.
Another fine was imposed on Al-Ahly in the amount of 30,000 francs ($34,000), due to the trio Mahmoud Kahraba, Hussein Al-Shahat, and Imam Ashour receiving a yellow card in the Al-Ittihad match.
It is noteworthy that Al-Ahly will face its Brazilian counterpart, Fluminense, tomorrow, Monday, at nine o’clock in the evening, Mecca time (6:00 GMT), in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup held in Saudi Arabia.
Neco Williams scores against Atletico Madrid with a world-class goal
Spanish winger Nico Williams led his team, Athletic Bilbao, to achieve a valuable victory at the expense of his guest, Atletico Madrid, with two unanswered goals on Saturday in the 17th stage of the Spanish Football League.
Bilbao waited until the second half to score two goals through striker Gorka Goroseta and Williams in the 51st and 64th minutes.
Williams scored his goal in a very wonderful way, as he slipped in from the right side before shooting a missile curler with his left hand, after which the ball settled in the 90th corner of Atletico goalkeeper, Jan Oblak.
With this victory, Athletic Bilbao raised its score to 32 points and jumped to fifth place in the Spanish League standings.
As for Atletico Madrid, it lost its fourth match in the league this season, leaving its score frozen at 34 points in third place, superior on goal difference to Barcelona, but the latter will be able to snatch third place if it wins and even draws with Valencia in the match that will bring them together later today.
