The smart device is designed to help blind people. Its purpose is to replace the traditional cane used by those with vision problems. This was stated on the website of the Chinese company AI Guided, which manufactures smart devices.
Chinese specialists have equipped the GUIDi belt worn by the blind person with an 8-megapixel camera and electronic devices to analyze the space around him. The artificial intelligence built into the smart belt allows him to evaluate conditions in real time, determine that there is something in the blind person's path that prevents him from passing, and then the belt activates the tactile feedback units. Thus, the owner of the GUIDi feels vibrations indicating the direction in which he should adhere.
In addition, this innovation can be synchronized with the mobile application via Bluetooth.
The GUIDi belt has a special mobile application, where the user can indicate where he should be and the belt will draw the safest route and start indicating the path using touch signals.
The belt connects to the blind person's smartphone via Bluetooth. One charge of the built-in electric battery is enough for 10 hours of travel. Braille buttons are provided for control.
The main advantage of the AI belt is that the device frees the hands of the blind person. If he uses classical guidance methods such as a cane or guide dogs, one of his hands is always occupied, which hinders the performance of daily tasks.
GUDi has entered batch production, and the smart belt is currently available for pre-order on Indiegogo at a price of 85,000 rubles. If the co-financing of this product is successful, sales will begin in the second half of 2024.
It was much needed.
