Bastianini is the Malaysian MotoGP champion, Bagnaia is still at the top of the standings
Jakarta : A surprise came from the Sepang International Circuit, where not Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) or Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac), but Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo) emerged as champion of the Malaysian MotoGP, Sunday.
This was Bastianini's first MotoGP win this season, after having to struggle with injuries and miss a number of important rounds.
Regarding the course of the race, Bagnaia, who is the Malaysian MotoGP polesitter, immediately accelerated, before Martin finally overtook him for a moment until Bastianini took the leading position from the two leaders of the standings.
Bastianini continued to appear dominant from the start of the opening lap to the end of the race, and was never overtaken by the other strong racers behind him.
The racer nicknamed "The Beast" also ensured a solid comeback and was far ahead of Malaysian MotoGP Sprint champion Alex Marquez and Bagnaia — last year's Malaysian MotoGP champion.
“I feel this is the best thing. I'm very tired, but mentally and in my heart I feel 100 percent, especially after such a tough season. "My friends and team always support me and I am very grateful because they make me not give up," said Bastianini in a short interview after the race.

Finishing in second place was Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing) with a margin of 1.535 seconds. "I myself didn't think I could do what I did today, especially from a physical perspective (still recovering from injury)," said Alex Marquez.
Meanwhile, Bagnaia secured the final podium in Malaysia after being 3.562 seconds behind his teammates, and is still at the top of the standings this season with a total of 412 points.
“I had a problem with the brakes, tried to catch Alex (Marquez) but because there was a problem it made it even more difficult. "But, however, I feel happy with today's race," said Bagnaia.
On the other hand, the biggest competitor for the world title this season, Martin, finished in P4 with a time of 10.526 seconds from Bastianini. He is still in second place in the standings and is 14 points adrift of Bagnaia.
While completing the top five, there was Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) who neatly took the position from Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46) in the last lap of the race.
Meanwhile, the next round of MotoGP this season will continue in Qatar next week, before the series finally closes in Valencia.
