Security sources: A large group of migrants arrives on the Italian island of Lampedusa

AKI Agency reported, citing Italian security sources, that “a major landing operation of migrants had occurred on the coast of the Italian island of Lampedusa.”
AKI quoted the same sources as saying, “Patrol boats belonging to the Coast Guard and the Malian Police rescued a fishing boat carrying 573 people on board, Monday morning, who had sailed from the shores of Libya.”

The security sources added, "The boat was escorted to the Favaloro pier (southeast of Lampedusa) and the migrants were transported to the hotspot in the Impriacola area, run by the Red Cross, which had been emptied of all its guests since Friday evening."

She pointed out that "the last landing of migrants on the largest island of the Sicilian archipelago was on November 22," after a halt due to bad weather conditions.

The newspaper  says , "Police are investigating an alleged acid attack on a former advisor to former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan at his home in Hertfordshire."

In turn, Shahzad Akbar told the newspaper, “An unknown person wearing a motorcycle helmet threw acid on his face in front of his four-year-old daughter.”

He added that the doctors who arrived at the scene of the accident transferred him to Cambridge, where nurses wearing special suits washed him, and after eight hours, he was discharged from the hospital after bandaging his burned hand with acid and other wounds.

Police did not specify what type of acid the attacker used.

Akbar was part of Imran Khan's government, but left his post shortly before the Prime Minister resigned. He then moved to the United Kingdom, where he criticized the Pakistani authorities on social media and on television.

The newspaper notes that British Member of Parliament and former Minister for Exiting the European Union, David Davis, said that Pakistani intelligence services could be involved in the incident, and an unnamed Pakistani source told the newspaper that he was more cautious than that. The possibility of an attack occurring several weeks ago.
