Russia : inventing a drug containing stem cells to treat spinal cord injuries
According to the Director General of the Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnology Vsevold Belousov, the innovative drug, which is based on stem cells, will help rehabilitation and restore walking function.
In an interview with the Russian TASS news agency, Belousov indicated that the drug was created on the basis of stem cells, which helps eliminate or significantly reduce the inflammatory effect at the site of the injury. Scientists have found that combining neuromodulation with the new drug significantly increases the effectiveness of restoring walking function.
According to him, there are currently no such serial drugs based on stem cells, but there are many similar drugs at the stage of clinical trials. It is possible that the Russian drug will be put on the market in early 2025.
