Muslim players impose their will and the British government is dissatisfied with the English Football Association

The FA's refusal to issue a supportive statement and its refusal to light the arch of Wembley Stadium in the colors of the Israeli flag sparked the anger of many pro-Israel officials and it appears that Muslim players had a role in that.
The English Football Association took a decision not to use Wembley Stadium for political events.

The Telegraph reported: “The English Football Association will only light the arch on a few occasions, stressing that it is a place for sports and entertainment, not political affairs.”

The newspaper added, "The Union supports many issues and campaigns related to diversity and equality, but it will not light the bow to support them, and will remain limited to sporting events or concerts only, and not to natural disasters or humanitarian disasters, as it did in the past."

Rabbi Alex Goldberg resigned from the presidency of the Faith Network of the English Football Association following the incident.

The United Kingdom government also expressed its dissatisfaction with the English Football Association’s withdrawal from lighting the arch of Wembley Stadium in the colors of the Israeli flag, and described the matter as “disappointing.”

As for the reasons for retracting the lighting of the Wembley Stadium arch with the Israeli flag, it is to avoid creating a negative and hostile atmosphere in British society, especially with the differences in opinions on the Palestinian issue there.

Arab and Muslim players also threatened their clubs in the English Football League to leave the matches if they disrespected the Palestinian martyrs and took sides with the Israeli side. The players informed their clubs of their desire to show respect to all those who lost their lives and not take sides.

There were also meetings with Arab and Muslim players and members of the English Football Association, in which they warned against using social media sites in this case in a way that incites hatred.

It is noteworthy that the Wembley Arch was lit up to celebrate International Women's Day and in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
