Samosir, North Sumatra - Jet ski racer from Hungary Gyorgy Kasza regretted that his victory in the 2023 Aquabike endurance race in the Samosir series was achieved without tight competition from Jean Bruno Pastorello from France, Friday.
According to Kasza, his victory would be even more impressive if he could catch up with the French racer who already bagged two wins in the previous series in Karo Regency and Dairi Regency.
"I'm very sad for Pastorello because I want this to be a good fight. But Moto 2 will be here soon so we're off again," said Kasza after handing over the trophy at Waterfront City Pangururan, Samosir, North Sumatra, Friday.
In the Samosir racing series, Bruno only completed one of the two race sessions played. In race 1, Bruno did not finish the race or Did Not Finish (DNF) due to technical problems.
He just returned to compete in race 2 and was able to finish second behind Kasza. Even though he was able to take points in race 2, unfortunately Bruno was unable to maintain his lead like in Karo and Dairi.
Finally, the title of champion in the endurance jetski Aquabike category in the Samosir series was won by Kasza who emerged as the new winner in the event.
The Samosir Aquabike endurance jetski event was the closing series of this category, and was held in three series, namely at Sinalsal Beach, Karo, on Wednesday (22/11). Continued with the Dairi series at Tao Silalahi Beach, Thursday (23/11), and closed with the Samosir series at Waterfront City Pangururan, Friday.
After the endurance series on 22-24 November, the 2023 Jetski Aquabike World Championship will continue with the Grand Prix (GP) series which will take place in Balige Regency on 25-26 November.
IMI : APRC is a stepping stone to holding a world rally
"This is not the first time I have seen the location at Lake Toba as a rally arena. This is where we restart what we have done here at the national and world championships. "Hopefully this APRC will be a stepping stone for 2025 to world level WRC," he said in Toba, Friday, when opening the 2023 Lake Toba Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC). He said that he had recently met with the President of the International Automotive Federation
( FIA) Mohammed Bin Sulayem.
In the meeting, his party confirmed that Indonesia had entered into an NDA Agreement with the WRC Promoter to start preparations according to the FIA and WRC Promoter SOPs, so that Indonesia could host the 2025 WRC in the Lake Toba area. "We have a commitment to 2025 . We were given the WRC agenda to be held here because foreign racers are quite happy and long to return to Indonesia, especially to Lake Toba. I hope that all local residents in the Lake Toba area can experience directly the benefits of the economic revival because of this event. " he said.
He also appreciated the growth of new rally athletes in Indonesia.
"The growth has been quite high in the last two years, the number of active racers taking part in the national championship and now the APRC is quite large and the vehicles are extraordinary. We exceed other Asian countries, at least the most sophisticated cars are now found in Indonesia. "Hopefully, not only with sophistication but also with skill and dexterity will Indonesia be able to become world champion," he hoped.
He is also confident that for the 2025 WRC, Lake Toba will have better prepared facilities and infrastructure.
"In 2025, when the World Rally Championship will be held here, the facilities and infrastructure at Lake Toba will have changed. "The infrastructure is getting better," he said.
Meanwhile, IMI North Sumatra Trustee, Musa Rajekshah, admitted that through the IMI Executive Board and the IMI North Sumatra board of directors, his party had also applied to be able to host the APRC again in 2024. "Previously, we asked for two series, but it turns out the final round has already been taken. "New Zealand. Maybe before New Zealand in September we will carry out the APRC again and the final in November in New Zealand. This is all with the help of the Central IMI," he said.
French police arrest Algerian international player Youssef Atal
French police today arrested Algerian Youssef Atal, Nice's defender, as a precaution on charges of "defending terrorism", against the backdrop of a video he published about the war between Israel and Hamas.
Youssef Atal (27 years old) quickly deleted the post and apologized, but his club decided on October 18 to suspend him until further notice, while the French League’s disciplinary committee suspended him for seven matches on the 26th of last month.
A Nice club statement read as follows: “After his return from the Algeria national team camp, which began on October 9, Nice officials held a meeting with Youssef Atal.”
“The player admitted that the video clip he posted was wrong and he quickly removed it and apologized for what was written, given the seriousness of the post.”
“Nice Club immediately took the first disciplinary penalty by suspending Youssef Atal until further notice.”
“We would like to emphasize that the reputation and unity of Nice comes from the behavior of all employees at the club, which must be in accordance with the values of the institution, as in our message last Friday, where Nice affirmed its firm commitment to peace.”
An investigation was opened on October 16, after the Public Prosecution was notified by the municipality of Nice, on charges of “defending terrorism” and “inciting hatred or violence based on a specific religion.”
Voices rose, including to the mayor of Nice, to denounce the video clip that Atal published, in which a preacher appears to be making, as he claimed, anti-Semitic statements calling for violence, before he deleted it and apologized.
Atal’s apology stated: “I know that my post shocked many people, and that was not my intention, and I apologize for that,” adding that he wanted to “clarify his point of view without any ambiguity: I strongly condemn all forms of violence anywhere in the world, and I support all forms of violence.” Victims."
