Stoltenberg: Strengthening the American presence in the Middle East is necessary to protect Israel

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg considered that strengthening the American presence in the Middle East is necessary to prevent “anti-Israel” countries from trying to exploit the situation.

The Secretary-General of the Alliance said during the meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, in which the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict was also discussed: “It is very important that any countries or organizations hostile to Israel do not try to take advantage of the situation that we are witnessing now. We are witnessing an increase in the American military presence in "The region, which constitutes a deterrent in this conflict."

Stoltenberg also stressed that he did not believe that providing aid to Israel could "distract" NATO allies from supporting Ukraine.

He added, "Allies in NATO have sufficient capabilities to respond to many challenges at once, and it is not necessary to choose one party, and this also applies to supporting Ukraine and Israel."

Earlier, the American newspaper "The Wall Street Journal" reported, citing sources in the Pentagon, that the United States is studying the possibility of sending a second aircraft carrier to the coast of Israel.
