Four urgent decisions, A Spanish minister calls on European countries to hold Israel and its officials accountable

Acting Spanish Minister of Social Rights, Ione Pellara, called on European countries to take four urgent decisions to hold Israel and those responsible for the genocide in Palestine accountable.
Belara said in a blog post on the “X” platform: “Let us move. It is still possible to stop genocide,” referring to the raids carried out by Israeli fighters on the Gaza Strip, which left thousands of civilians dead.

The minister called on European countries to take four urgent decisions against Israel.

It stated that diplomatic relations with Israel must be “severed,” economic sanctions must be “decisively imposed,” an arms embargo must be imposed, and “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and all other political leaders who have bombed civilians must be brought to the International Criminal Court.”

Ione Pellara concluded by saying, “Let us take action It is still possible to stop the genocide in Palestine.”

Russia and China use their veto and fail a US draft resolution in the Security Council that does not call for a ceasefire in Gaza

On Wednesday evening, the UN Security Council failed to adopt a US draft resolution that does not call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In the evening, Russia and China used their veto power and thwarted the American draft resolution in the Security Council.

On the other hand, the Security Council failed to adopt a Russian draft resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and facilitating the entry of aid into the Strip, as the United States vetoed the Russian draft resolution.

The UN Security Council voted on Wednesday night on two draft resolutions on the war on Gaza, one submitted by the United States and the other by Russia, after the Council failed last week to adopt two similar draft resolutions, one of which was submitted by Russia and the other by Brazil.

Any draft needs nine votes, out of 15, to be adopted by the Security Council, provided that none of the permanent member states uses a veto.

The United States presented to the UN Security Council a draft resolution on the escalation between Israel and Palestine that condemns the Hamas movement, recognizes Israel's right to self-defense, and does not call for a ceasefire.

The US draft resolution stated that the Security Council “unequivocally rejects and condemns the brutal terrorist attack committed by Hamas and other terrorist groups, which occurred in Israel since October 7.”

The draft resolution also affirms Israel's inalienable right to individual and collective self-defense, and calls for the immediate and unconditional release of hostages "held by Hamas" and respect for international humanitarian law, including the protection of civilians.

Russia had previously distributed  a draft resolution  in the Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. The document also strongly condemns acts of violence and hostilities against civilians and all terrorist acts, but the Security  Council met with rejection .

The UN Security Council also failed, after the United States used its veto power, to adopt  a Brazilian draft resolution  requiring a halt to Israeli orders to evacuate residents of the northern Gaza Strip to its south, and calling for a humanitarian truce and the establishment of safe corridors.
