Zurich: The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced today, Wednesday, that the 2030 World Cup will be held in Morocco, Spain and Portugal, while the first three matches will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to celebrate the centenary of the competition.

The joint bid from Morocco, Portugal and Spain was the only bid to host the tournament.

The World Cup was held for the first time in 1930 in Uruguay, and the hosts succeeded in winning the title.

This will be the first edition of the World Cup to be held on three continents and six countries.

FIFA said in a statement, “The FIFA Council unanimously approved the single bid, which brings together Morocco, Portugal, and Spain to host the tournament in 2030, and the three qualified directly to the finals as hosts.”

He continued, "In addition, and taking into account the historical context of the first-ever edition of the World Cup, the FIFA Council also unanimously agreed that Montevideo will host an exceptional celebration for this edition, with the first three matches being held, respectively, in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay."

FIFA will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the launch of the first edition by holding the first matches of the 2030 edition in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, before completing the rest of the matches in Morocco, Spain and Portugal.
