"Eye on Palestine" the most famous account to reveal what is happening in Gaza, returns to work after being suspended by "Meta" and "X"

The famous news page “Eye on Palestine” (@eye.on.palestine) and its official backup copy have resumed their activity on “Instagram” after they were recently closed by “Meta” and the “X” platform.
The official "Eye on Palestine" page published a statement late Friday evening saying that it had returned to work.

The statement added: "Eye on Palestine brings you voices and images that are not shown by the official media. We defend our people and their legitimate rights guaranteed by heavenly laws and even international laws, by revealing the truth that is not covered by the sun."

The statement indicated that there are no alternative pages or accounts except @eye.on.palestine and its official backup copy, @eye.on.palestine2, explaining that those responsible for managing the account disabled the “Facebook” page due to the continuous deletion of posts.

It is worth noting that Meta closed the official pro-Palestine Instagram account, “Eye on Palestine,” which had more than 6 million followers (it now has 7.3 million followers).

The official account and its official backup were no longer available on Instagram as of last Wednesday.

The backup account was created to protect the original page and fight “shadow bans,” a problem Instagram users said they faced while sharing pro-Palestine content since the beginning of the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.

Shadow blocking is defined as blocking a user, preventing his access to a specific electronic community, and shading that user in such a way that he does not know that he is blocked or prohibited.

When searching for Eye on Palestine accounts, the pages displayed the words: “Sorry, this page is not available.”

The account was also blocked on the “X” platform, as when you search for it, the page displays the words: “This account does not exist.”

According to the Mashable website, Meta stated that it closed the accounts for security reasons and they can now be reactivated by their owner.

Meta said: “These accounts were initially locked for security reasons after signs of hacking appeared. We have helped the account holders regain access and they can now reactivate their accounts.”

Meta confirmed that it did not disable these accounts because of “any content they were sharing,” but many social media users questioned the matter, noting that this is the latest incident of censorship and bias against pro-Palestine messages on Meta’s platforms.

The Eye on Palestine account shared first-hand accounts of the situation in Gaza.

Elon Musk fights "misleading X posts" in his own way!

Elon Musk revealed that X posts with any misinformation corrected by the platform's crowd-sourced fact-checking system will be "not eligible for a share of the revenue."
Musk said the change aims to "maximize the incentive for accuracy rather than excitement." He also noted that any attempts to "weaponize the Community Notes system to demonize people will be immediately apparent, because all code and data are open source."

Some users were quick to criticize the change, noting that the feature is not only used to correct misinformation, but also to add essential context even if there was nothing wrong with the initial post.

The Community Notes feature was first launched by Twitter co-founder and former president Jack Dorsey, in 2021 as a way to expose misleading tweets.

Currently, eligible users on the social media platform can register to contribute to Community Notes, which involves sharing a short note about the context of a post, including correcting an error or providing basic information that has been omitted.

An account can subscribe to Community Notes, according to X, if the user has not violated the platform's rules recently, and has been on the platform for at least 6 months.

Other users viewing the note can rate the usefulness of the note with the note with the greatest consensus appearing to the top.

Earlier this year,
But the social media platform has come under increasing scrutiny over its handling of misinformation since Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion last year, cutting nearly two-thirds of the company's workforce.

Particular focus was placed on the platform's handling of misinformation in the wake of the conflict between Israel and Gaza.
