Kosovo: Belgrade wants to use Putin's model to annex Crimea
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, said that Serbia wants to use Putin's model in annexing the Crimean Peninsula, stressing in an interview with the newspaper "La Repubblica" that her country has conclusive evidence that Serbia carried out the attack on September 24 last year.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani warned of Serbia's desire to repeat a scenario similar to Russia's annexation of the Ukrainian Crimean Peninsula.
In an interview with La Repubblica newspaper, on Sunday, she stated that her country has conclusive evidence that Serbia carried out the attack on September 24 last year.
She added: "It is now preparing for a new attack by strengthening its forces and artillery on the Kosovo border. This is a different situation than what we have seen for 25 years. Serbia is still ruled by the mentality of Milosevic (former President Slobodan) and they are trying to erase everything, freedom, peace and stability, that our people achieved with the United States." United States and the European Union.
She indicated that Belgrade wants to use Putin's model to annex the Crimean Peninsula, stressing that her country will not allow that to happen.
She continued: "Serbia must know that it will face a people determined to defend their freedom at any cost."
On September 24, a policeman was killed and another was injured as a result of Serb gunmen shooting at them after they blocked a road in the Serb-majority area of Beniaska, northern Kosovo.
Commenting on the incident, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Serbia of supporting militants, and called on Belgrade to "stop sponsoring terrorist attacks in the north."
In 2008, Kosovo unilaterally declared its independence from Serbia, which was recognized by most member states of the United Nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Turkey, but Serbia still considers it part of its territory.
