Slovak government : Slovakia extends the ban on importing Ukrainian grains

A statement from the government on Saturday said: “The Slovak government extended the ban on imports of wheat, corn, rapeseeds and sunflowers from Ukraine until the end of this year.”  Yesterday, Friday, the European Commission decided  not to extend the restrictions imposed on the import of four types of Ukrainian agricultural products to many European Union countries, but it obligated Kiev to supervise the quantities of its grain exports to the Union.    Afghanistan : The Taliban detains 18 employees of a Swiss organization The Swiss non-governmental organization International Assistance Mission announced on Saturday that the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan had arrested 18 of its employees, including one foreigner.  The organization registered in Switzerland explained that the employees were kidnapped from its office in Ghor province in central Afghanistan, and were transferred to the capital, Kabul.  Two Afghans and a member of the international team were arrested on September 3, then 15 Afghans.  The organization said in its statement: “So far we have no information about the nature of the allegations against our staff, and therefore we cannot comment or speculate about the current situation.”  She added: "If any accusations are brought against our organization or any employee, we will review any evidence presented in an independent manner," while spokesmen for the Taliban authorities did not comment.  The International Assistance Mission (IAM) has been operating in Afghanistan since 1966, and at that time it specialized in eye treatment, before expanding its services in the fields of health care and education.  Since returning to power in mid-August 2021, the Taliban authorities have arrested an unknown number of foreigners.  The Taliban continues to impose laws consistent with its strict interpretation of Islamic law. For example, it has prevented women from working in non-governmental organizations and the United Nations.  Within two years, secondary schools and then universities were closed in Afghanistan to women, and they were prohibited from visiting parks and gyms. Earlier today, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu accompanied the North Korean leader on his visit to Knevichy Airport in Primorje Province, where Kim was introduced to Russian bombers and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. The US Department of Homeland Security said in a statement: “Today, US and Mexican law enforcement agencies handed over to the US Department of Justice Ovidio Guzman Lopez, one of El Chapo’s sons, who is accused of drug trafficking, money laundering, and other violent crimes.”  The ministry added, "The extradition of Lopez shows the importance of cooperation between the two governments to reduce drug trafficking," expressing its thanks to Mexico for extraditing this wanted person.   Ovidio Guzman Lopez, nicknamed “El Raton,” meaning “The Mouse,” was arrested by Mexican authorities at the beginning of the year.  Commenting on his country's receipt of the wanted Mexican, US Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement that this extradition represents "the latest step in the Department of Justice's efforts to address every aspect of the cartel's operations."  "The Department of Justice will continue to hold accountable those responsible for fueling the opioid scourge that has devastated so many communities across the country," he added.  The US authorities consider "El Raton" a key member of the cartel, along with his brother, Joaquin Guzmán Lopez.  “El Raton” is being prosecuted in the United States on charges of involvement in the fentanyl crisis that this country is suffering from, and the American judiciary brought official charges against him earlier this year in this case.  In 2019, his father was convicted of running the Sinaloa Cartel, believed to be the largest drug gang in the world, and is serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison in Colorado.  "El Chapo" was considered the most powerful drug trafficker in the world until the Mexican authorities arrested him in 2016 and extradited him to the United States in 2017.

The Slovak government announced the extension of the ban on importing Ukrainian grain until the end of this year.

A statement from the government on Saturday said: “The Slovak government extended the ban on imports of wheat, corn, rapeseeds and sunflowers from Ukraine until the end of this year.”

Mexico : Extradites to the United States one of the sons of drug baron "El Chapo"

US authorities announced that Mexico had extradited Ovidio Guzman, one of the sons of Mexican drug baron Joaquin “El Chapo,” who is serving a life sentence in the United States.

The US Department of Homeland Security said in a statement: “Today, US and Mexican law enforcement agencies handed over to the US Department of Justice Ovidio Guzman Lopez, one of El Chapo’s sons, who is accused of drug trafficking, money laundering, and other violent crimes.”

The ministry added, "The extradition of Lopez shows the importance of cooperation between the two governments to reduce drug trafficking," expressing its thanks to Mexico for extraditing this wanted person.
