Madrid : The Spanish Federation dismisses the coach of the women's national team, Jorge Vilda

The Spanish Football Federation sacked the women's national team coach, Jorge Vilda, on Tuesday, amid controversy over the "kiss" of suspended federation president Luis Rubiales.

Coach Filda was among those who applauded Rubiales when he announced his refusal to resign from the presidency of the federation after he was widely criticized for kissing player Jennifer Hermoso on the lips without her consent, during the team's celebrations of winning the Women's World Cup in Sydney, Australia, last August.

After the incident, Spanish coach Filda showed his support for the president of the federation, Rubiales, but later retracted it and issued a statement saying that the latter's behavior was "inappropriate", according to the "Associated Press".

Subsequently, the Disciplinary Committee of the International Federation of Football Associations suspended Rubiales for 90 days, as he faces a lawsuit filed against him by the Spanish government because of the behavior that sparked a storm of criticism and led to widespread calls for his resignation.

Filda led Spain to win the Women's World Cup after a historic 1-0 victory over England in the final that brought the two teams together on August 20 in Australia.

Jeddah : Al-Ahly of Egypt faces the winner of Al-Ittihad Jeddah and Auckland City at the start of its matches in the Club World Cup

The draw for the FIFA Club World Cup, which was held in Jeddah on Tuesday, pitted Al-Ahly of Egypt against the winner of the match between Al-Ittihad Jeddah, the Saudi League champion, and Auckland City, the Oceania champion.

Lyon, the CONCACAF champion, will also meet Urawa Red Diamonds, the Asian champion, in the second round.

In the semi-finals, the Copa Libertadores champion, whose identity will be determined after the final match held next November 4, will face the winner of the match between Al-Ahly and the winner of the first preliminary round match between Al-Ittihad Jeddah and Auckland.

While Manchester City, the European champion, will meet the winner of the match between Urawa Red Diamonds and Lyon.

This is the fourth time in a row that Al-Ahly has participated in the Club World Cup and the eighth in its history.

This is the first time that England's Manchester City has participated in the tournament, as it won the Champions League title for the first time last season.

The tournament will be held from December 12 to 27 next in Saudi Arabia.
