All political parties should have freedom to participate in elections: Caretaker Information Minister

Speaking to journalists during a visit to Radio Pakistan Karachi on Sunday, Murtaza Solangi said that 'it is clear in the constitution that the system of the country will be run by elected representatives.'

Pakistan  's Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi has said that all parties in Pakistan should have complete freedom to participate in general elections and the official media should not support or oppose any party.

According to the official news agency Associated Press of Pakistan, Murtaza Solangi said while talking to journalists during a visit to Radio Pakistan Karachi on Sunday, that 'it is clear in the constitution that the system of the country will be run by elected representatives.'

He further said that 'official media should not support or oppose any party.'

According to APP, he issued a directive to the state-run media to 'give adequate coverage to all registered political parties.'

Murtaza Solangi added that it is the responsibility of the caretaker government to provide an environment for fair elections.

The Election Commission, the body responsible for conducting elections in Pakistan, had announced on September 21 that 'General elections in Pakistan will be held in the last week of January 2024.'

In the statement issued by the Election Commission last Thursday, it has been said that the preliminary list of constituencies should be released on 27 September 2023, while the final list of constituencies should be released on 30 November 2023 after hearing the proposals of the preliminary constituencies. will.'

On the other hand, Pakistan's Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, who is in the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly, also spoke to journalists in New York on September 23, 2023, regarding all political parties in the elections.

In response to a question during a news conference at the Pakistan Mission in New York, he said that the elections in Pakistan will be held on time. Election Commission's responsibility is to conduct elections and it will give the date of elections very soon.

He further said that there is no intention to stop any political party from the election process. If one himself is suffering from these concerns, what can be the treatment for it?

"Has the Election Commission of Pakistan issued any notification to ban any party, has the Election Commission of Pakistan banned any individual from participating in the political process?"

He further said that 'If anyone including me vandalizes Pakistan, sets fire, proves to be a threat to people's lives and property, then the laws of Pakistan do not allow this.'
