A cyber attack on the "Apple" mobile devices of the employees of the Russian "Kaspersky" laboratory : Hackers

The Russian company "Kaspersky Lab" discovered a cyber attack on the "Apple" mobile devices of its employees.
The company's press service said that "Kaspersky Lab" discovered that the "Apple" mobile devices of its employees around the world were subject to a cyber attack.

According to a report published by the company, the matter is a previously unknown malicious program that attacks iOS devices for the purpose of espionage.

It is noteworthy that the hackers attacked the mobile devices of dozens of Kaspersky Lab employees, but important data, products or processes were not affected.

As a result of the company's internal investigation, it became clear that the victim received a hidden iMessage with an attachment, which means that the attackers did not ask the user to take any actions to install the virus.

The attackers were able to establish complete control over the infected device and gain access to all data, in particular, recordings from microphones, photographs from instant messengers, and the user's geographical location were of interest to them.

It is noteworthy that the Russian Federal Security Service had reported earlier that it had detected a US intelligence operation carried out through a virus program on Apple mobile devices. Several thousand Apple smartphones belonging not only to Russian users but also to phones with foreign numbers were infected using SIM cards registered with diplomatic missions and embassies in Russia, including in NATO and former Soviet Union countries, as well as Israel, Syria and China.

The Russian Federal Security Service stressed that the information received by the Russian special services confirms Apple's close cooperation with US intelligence.

In this regard, the Kremlin recalled that the use of "iPhones" for official purposes in the office of the President of Russia is unacceptable and prohibited.
