You must have seen big caves, but have you seen the biggest cave on earth? Today we will tell where is the biggest cave on earth and how big it is. No one knew about this cave till 2009. You just understand that a Boeing 747 plane can pass directly through it.
There is a cave in Vietnam, named Hang Son Doong cave. No one knew about this cave till 2009. This cave is of Pliocene or Late Miocene time, that is, about 20 to 5 million years old. Its length is 5 kilometers and the height of the entire cave system inside is about 656 feet. The size of this cave is so large that it is the largest cave ever discovered on earth.
Earlier, Deer Cave of Malaysia has been considered as the largest cave in the world. But Hang Sun Dong Cave is five times bigger than Deer Cave. Despite being such a large cave, in 1991 a local man Ho Khanh (Hồ Khanh) discovered only the entrance to this cave. But for the next 18 years it again became anonymous.
After this, in 2009, a team from the British Cave Research Association worked to find the high entrance of the cave. And after this discovery this giant cave was documented.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang is located in the park, on the coast of Vietnam. The park contains over 150 limestone caves and grottos, many of which have yet to be discovered. Most of the cave systems of the park are interconnected and then its length together makes a total of 200 kilometers.
The volume of the Sun Dong corridor is 38.4 million cubic meters, 9 kilometers in length and 650 feet in width. It's actually so wide that a Boeing 747 can drive straight through. This cave is surrounded by the greenery of the forest and but its entrance is clearly visible, the length of its door is 164 feet.
A fast flowing river runs inside this cave, due to which this cave was formed thousands of years ago. During the rainy season, this river gets flooded and the whole caves get filled with water, then it becomes very difficult to go here.
Some very impressive stalagmites are also found in this cave. In which the world's largest stalagmite is also here, which is 70 meters high. This is called 'Hand of Dog'.
There are also two large sinkholes in the cave, which are like skylights. It is believed that the smaller of the two sinkholes is called 'Watch Out for Dinosaurs'. The bigger one is called 'The Garden of Adam', which extends up to 534 feet. The forest is spread under both these sinkholes. The jungle trees grow more than 30 meters high. For this reason, people who visit the cave often lose their way between the thick bushes.
Animals like birds, monkeys and snakes are also found inside these sinkholes. There are also species that are on the verge of extinction, so it is expected that these animals will be safe in these caves. There is a part of the cave where rain water does not fill. This part is full of 40 million year old fossils which are completely preserved.
This cave was mapped by National Geographic in 2010 and a virtual tour of it is also available online. However, it is believed that only 30 percent of this cave has been explored so far.
In 2019, a team of British divers set out to trace the passage of the cave's water. Some 393 feet under water they discovered another tunnel that connects to the cave. This tunnel is 1 kilometer long. Experts are still trying to figure out where the water inside flows, with some researchers believing it connects to an even larger, unseen cave.
Today very little is known about the cave. Very few people come here. Only 1000 people are allowed to come here in every season. And every passenger has to pay about $ 3,000 to come here.
