Guatemalan President Alejandro Giamatti announced that he will pay an official visit to Taiwan on Saturday to show his support for the island, which is under Chinese pressure.

"We are about to sign an agreement that is being finalized with Taiwan to expand the access of Guatemalan products to the island market," Giamatti said on Tuesday.

He indicated that he would visit the Taiwanese "largest companies" wishing to "come to Guatemala".
