Russia remains the largest supplier of crude to India for the sixth month in a row, as imports rose to a new high of 1.64 million barrels per day in March 2023, according to the oil analytics company Vortexa.
The company said that "purchases from Russia doubled last March compared to 0.82 million barrels of oil per day that were purchased from Iraq, which was the largest oil supplier to India in the years 2017-2018."
The company added that "purchases from Russia increased slightly, on a monthly basis, from 1.62 million barrels per day in February 2023 to 1.64 million barrels per day in March 2023."
Analysts of the "Vortexa" oil analytics company indicated that Russia's share in Indian imports rose last March to 34%, and indicated that Indian refineries' purchases of Russian oil from the "Urals" brand remained stable last March, but the increase in the share is linked to an increase In imports of other varieties such as Novy Port Light.
According to the data, last month Saudi Arabia came in second place in the list of the largest suppliers of crude oil to India, as it supplied 986,288 barrels per day, while Iraq ranked third with imports amounting to 821,952 barrels per day.
While the UAE came in fourth place, with supplies amounting to 313,002 barrels per day, and thus surpassed the United States (136,464 barrels per day).
Targeting a US army base in eastern Syria with 3 missiles
On Monday, Sputnik reported, quoting local sources, that the American base in the Koniko gas field in eastern Syria was bombed with three missiles.
The sources confirmed that the bombing took place from inside the areas controlled by the US army, specifically from an area close to the Al-Jafra oil field and the farms of the town of Jadeed Akidat, which borders the gas field controlled by the US army.
It indicated that an intense flight of US helicopters and reconnaissance aircraft covered the skies of the area surrounding the base.
The sources denied the news reported by some media loyal to the US military about shooting down a drone in the vicinity of the gas field, stressing that the attackers did not use any drones to target the base.
For its part, the Central Command of the US forces confirmed that the international coalition forces at Conico base in eastern Syria were attacked by a missile.
