Hundreds of residents of these areas have been evacuated to others close to their original communities to avoid being affected by the floods.   For his part, local police chief Danny Bacon said in statements to the local network: "This is the way our plan is going now, we will evacuate everyone from these communities (at risk of flooding) by tomorrow."  ABC News reported that an alligator attacked and injured a child before the evacuations began.  In the context, the Australian authorities issued a warning of major floods in the upper Victoria River.  Last year, the Australian state of New South Wales was also hit by massive floods, which caused severe damage to property and infrastructure.
