At dawn on February 6, an earthquake of 7.7 degrees struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, followed hours later by another with a magnitude of 7.6 and hundreds of violent aftershocks, which left huge losses of lives and property in both countries. Turkey: Recording the death of 47,975 earthquake victims in the civil registry

The Turkish Emergency and Disaster Administration "AFAD" announced that the death toll from the earthquakes in southern Turkey amounted to 47,975 people, and Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu said that among the victims were 6,265 foreigners.
