FIFA decided to strip Indonesia of the right to host the FIFA World Cup for youth under the age of 20, following a statement by the Indonesian Football Association about canceling the lottery after the ruler of the Hindu-majority island of Bali refused to host the Israeli national team.
FIFA said on Wednesday that it had stripped Indonesia of the right to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The decision was taken to exclude Indonesia from hosting the tournament, which was to take place from May 20 to June 11, following a statement by the Indonesian Football Association about canceling the lottery after the ruler of the Hindu-majority island of Bali refused to host the Israeli national team.
And a statement issued by FIFA stated: “FIFA has decided, due to the current circumstances, to exclude Indonesia from hosting the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2023.”
The statement added, "A new host will be announced as soon as possible, with the tournament dates currently remaining unchanged. The nature of possible sanctions against the Indonesian Federation may be determined at a later stage."
