The Russian ambassador to Ottawa, Oleg Stepanov, confirmed that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau does not believe his statements about the Russian Crimea belonging to Ukraine.

"First, the Canadian cabinet has bad publicists," Stepanov said. "Second, it is clear that Prime Minister Trudeau himself does not believe what he is saying."
The ambassador expressed his confidence that no one would heed the Canadian Prime Minister's statement.
The official page of the Canadian Prime Minister published his statement earlier in which he claimed that "Crimea has always been and remains Ukrainian."
