Qatar received more than 1.4 million visitors from around the world during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which kicked off on November 20, while the total number of audiences for the tournament matches reached nearly 3.4 million fans.

And according to what was reported by the Qatar News Agency "QNA" on Sunday evening, the total number of fans attending the championship matches was approximately 3.4 million fans.

The average attendance of one match exceeded 53,000 fans, with a total capacity of more than 96%.

Hassan Al-Thawadi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and President of the Qatar World Cup 2022, said: "We organized an exceptional, impressive edition of the tournament that will represent a milestone in hosting major international events."

Al Thawadi added that the historic event will leave a sustainable social, economic and environmental legacy for the country and the entire region.

On Sunday, the Qatari capital, Doha, witnessed an inspiring closing ceremony for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which was hosted by the State of Qatar.

The closing ceremony of the World Cup was held at Lusail Stadium before the final match between Argentina and France, the last day of the 28 World Cup, which witnessed 63 matches.
